Haven’t done one of these in a while!

Our big boy Gimi just loves to roll over and show his belly! He’s actually lost a little weight since we changed their diet last year, but even so he tips the scales at some 15 pounds.

This was the view from my terrace tonight. A fantastic, colorful sunset to close out the year:

A friend is coming over a little later, and we’ll have snacks, some champagne, maybe play some Wii or watch a movie. A nice quiet New Year’s with all the important things: good friends, good food, family, and some fun.

2007 was an up-and-down, “two steps forward one step back” kind of year in some ways, but on the other hand, I have my health, my family, my friends, and the great good fortune to live in a place and time where my destiny is changeable and under my own control. When I start thinking too much about the bad things, I need to remember that.

Peace on Earth, good will towards napping kitties!

We’ve enjoyed a quiet few days at home and will be heading out to see some friends a little later on. I hope everyone else is having a good day too.

I don’t have any new cat photos to share today, so instead I pulled something random out from the archives. This is a shot of some ancient Anasazi rock art carved into the stones near St George, UT.

I finally got the photos from my trip home online. This one, taken at a small park near Riverhead, Long Island, didn’t turn out quite how I thought it would, but I like it anyway.

As I tried to get my aunt’s dog Woolie to sit still for a photo, Dad successfully managed to fire off a shot of the both of us. I had no such luck.

It’s been a very food-centric weekend, and I leave for NYC Tuesday morning. So instead of some technology ruminations, here’s a shot of a seagull I took behind the Ferry Building yesterday.

Gimi Grooming

Gimi’s a big boy (OK, I’ll admit it, he’s FAT), so he doesn’t do too well grooming himself. Still, it’s funny to watch him try.

Rainy day, “fall really is here” edition.

The days are noticeably shorter by now, and for once, the rainy season seems to be kicking in early. Nights are colder, and the cats are spending more time cuddling with us and each other.

My employer launched a new product at midnight last night. As a result, I’ve been alternating between working furiously and sucking down quantities of coffee, as this photo illustrates.

I’m beat.
