Image by docnad via Flickr I didn’t go to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade every year when I lived in NYC — it’s pretty cold to be outside in November in NYC, so unless we had friends holding a viewing party I often skipped it. Still, it was always fun to wander by the balloons being inflated the night before. The first year I was in California I was so homesick that the parade on TV made me cry. Not anymore though. These days, I still love to see NYC on TV, but I find the parade overproduced, overcommercial, and annoying. It’s more of a 3-hour commercial for NBC than a celebration of Thanksgiving or even of Macy’s. (The Rockettes are still fun to watch though). Parade aside, this is going to be a great Thanksgiving. The family is gathering at my cousin’s and I’ll be headed over there a little later. I have a lot to be thankful for this year and it should be a great day. I hope you’re having a good one too!
