It's A New Day

So, after realizing that I could no longer read the date on my wristwatch, I bowed to the inevitable and got the reading glasses I’ve been needing for a while now.

It’s kind of nice not to squint so much, but …. *sigh*

I know, all you glasses wearers are laughing and completely unsympathetic, but hey, I’ve gone this long without them, can you blame me for thinking I might be able to get away with not needing them?

  1. Having been wearing glasses since I was 12, and it should have been 8 but my mother didn’t believe in them for small children, I have no sympathy.

  2. Back in 2005, I was reading my organic chemistry textbook before knocking off for the night. The next morning, I picked it up, AND I COULD NOT READ THE WORDS! They were blurred out! I went to school, asked a friend if my book pages were blurred (They weren’t), and promptly went to see an optometrist after class. His response to me about my sudden inability to read the words, “You have been compensating so long that your eyes finally said ‘NO’!”. I’ve been in reading glasses ever since (And now where them all the time as well – wearing gradient lenses for distance, close, and in-between). Its a hard realization that we are getting up there in age, isn’t it?

Don’t let the non-sympathetic out there get to you. I understand AND sympathize/empathize.

  3. Nice little Tina Fey action you’ve got going on there. 😉

I had to get glasses about 9 years ago, but I’ve always been a fan of them, so I actually welcomed them! In your case though, the bright side is that you look quite fetching in them.
