One of the campus facilities dep't trucks was decorated with this bumper sticker:
Why is MY oil under THEIR sand?
*sigh*. Some people are real idiots.
I'm tempted to make a minor stink about the sticker to the college administration but since I didn't get the license plate of the truck I'll let it slide. if I see the truck again, though, I'll make a note of it.

You should talk to the college administration about the bumper sticker. Tuition money and taxpayer money shouldn't go to support political statements on public vehicles.
I would nicely ask the administration to send out a memo to have employees remove all bumper stickers and remind them not to put any on in the future, especially ignorant ones.

I think I'd have to agree with the idea that the campus trucks should not be displaying any political stickers. But as for the particular one, the inanity of the literal reading is so great and so obvious that I can't help but wonder if it's sarcasm.
There was a bumper sticker in the late '70s, if I recall correctly, that said something like "How did what's under THEIR sand get to be OUR oil?" I wonder it this is a version of that.
Then again, maybe the person is an idiot after all.

Larry E's surmise is correct. The bumpersticker is sarcastic.
Rob, that's just silly. I worked at UAL in line tooling and people there plaster everything with stickers making any statement they want. Just because someone works for a tax-assisted entity you think the employees should be subjected to totally pointless restrictions like that?
